Operator Radii and Unitary Operators
Let ρ ≥ 1 and w ρ (A) be the operator radius of a linear operator A. Suppose m is a positive integer. It is shown that for a given invertible linear operator A acting on a Hilbert space, one has w ρ (A −m) ≥ w ρ (A) −m. The equality holds if and only if A is a multiple of a unitary operator.
متن کاملKrein’s Trace Formula for Unitary Operators and Operator Lipschitz Functions
The spectral shift function for pairs of selfadjoint operators was introduced in the paper by I.M. Lifshits [17]. In the same paper a trace formula for the difference of functions of the perturbed operator and the unperturbed operator was established. Ideas by Lifshits were developed in the paper by M.G. Krein [14], in which the spectral shift function ξ in L1(R) was defined for arbitrary pairs...
متن کاملOperator Radii of Commuting Products
Operator radii wp(T) for a bounded linear operator T on a Hubert space were introduced in connection with unitary p-dilations. We shall be concerned with universal estimates for the ratios wp(ST)/(wa(S)wl,(T)) for commuting operators S, T and o, p > 0. 1. All operators in this paper are bounded linear operators on a complex Hubert space §. We say an operator T belongs to the class G (0 < p < oo...
متن کاملSpectral Radii of Refinement and Subdivision Operators
The spectral radii of refinement and subdivision operators considered on the space L2 can be estimated by using norms of their symbols. In several cases, including those arising in wavelet analysis, the exact value of the spectral radius is found. For example, if T is the unit circle and if the symbol a of a refinement operator satisfies the conditions |a(z)|2 + |a(−z)|2 = 4, z ∈ T, and a(1) = ...

1. Let C be the complex field and T be the unit circle { \ £ C : | \ | = 1} . For a non-negative integer m or for m = oo, let OCT) be the space of all m-times continuously differentiable functions on T. (Here we consider T as a C°°-manifold in the natural way. Thus, any / £ C m ( r ) can be identified with an m-times continuously differentiable periodic function f (6) of a real variable 0 with ...
